About The Rehab Index
The independent rehab directory. A plain, honest way to find addiction treatment in the UK and Thailand, with no fees, no paid rankings and nobody pushing you anywhere.
Why it exists
I'm the person behind The Rehab Index. I'm an alcoholic and an addict in recovery. I'll remain anonymous here, but I am open about being in recovery.
Addiction ripped through my life. It ruined relationships and affected my family. I was successful in business, and lost in life.
I tried the therapy. Cutting down. Changing mobile numbers. Moving house. Changing friends. Selling my business to remove my stress. Nothing worked until I surrendered to the fact I am an addict.
Not everyone needs rehab. Millions of people get clean and sober in what we call the rooms, the 12 step fellowships. Links to these are on the Get Help page.
For me, I needed professional help. I didn't do rehab once and done. It took four times to really get me on this journey.
It's not easy. It's a sad illness that just looks selfish. It started as fun. Drink or drugs, they're the same thing. It doesn't end fun. We turn into people we don't recognise, or like. I would not wish addiction on anyone.
And the innocent friends and family around us suffer too. It's awful. So I did a small thing and created this website, to do a big thing. Help people. I make no money from this site. I am a curator, and I do my best to keep it up to date.
If you're the addict or alcoholic, or friends or family, I send you my heart and my hope. It isn't easy. But we do recover. Stay strong. Get help. I believe in you.
What we believe
- Nobody should pay to be listed, and no listing should pay to rank higher.
- People looking for help are often at their worst moment. The site should be calm, plain and quick to leave.
- Finding treatment should be as easy for a worried family member as it is for the person who needs it.
- If money ever changes hands, it must be obvious: clearly labelled ads and nothing else.
How the site is funded
I take no listing fees, no referral fees and no commission, not from rehabs and not from families. Using the directory costs nothing, and nobody pays to be listed or to appear higher.
I make no money from this site. I am a curator, not a business. Running costs are covered by clearly labelled sponsor ads. A sponsor gets a space on the site, never a better position in the listings, and we never sort or recommend by who pays.
What we're not
The Rehab Index is a directory, not a treatment provider. We don't give medical advice, we don't take bookings, and we don't pass your details to clinics. If you need medical guidance, speak to your GP or one of the free helplines.
Frequently asked questions
Is The Rehab Index free to use?
Yes. It costs nothing to read or use. No listing fees, no referral fees, no paid rankings.
Do rehabs pay to be listed or appear higher?
No. Every provider is listed the same way, and the order of results is never affected by money. Ads are clearly marked and never change how listings are ranked.
Who runs The Rehab Index?
One person, in recovery. An entrepreneur who has been through rehab and stays anonymous. They keep the directory up to date and make no money from it.
How do you choose which rehabs are listed?
Any provider that meets basic checks can be listed: proper registration with the relevant regulator and clear public information. We don't sell places, make commission, or accept payment for inclusion.
Is The Rehab Index a treatment provider?
No. It is a directory, not a medical service, and it does not give clinical advice. For medical guidance, talk to your GP or one of the free helplines.
Does The Rehab Index make money from referrals?
No. We take no listing fees, referral fees or commission, not from rehabs and not from families. Running costs are covered by clearly labelled sponsor ads, which never change how listings are ranked.
